World Meeting of Families / Pope Francis Arrives in Philly / Aretha Franklin to Sing for The Pope
Well, this Baptist is enjoying the Papal visit, as well as the sights and sounds of the World Meeting of Families from the comfort of my home via CNN. From what I can see, Pope Francis is a gracious and humble servant of God, and governs himself accordingly with all people, Catholic or otherwise. Most of his speeches are filled with things that have been said many times before by others, but often falls on 'deaf ears' when it comes to some of our government and political leaders. I hope they will choose to listen to 'someone' before it's too late. I'm also sensing a feeling of goodwill and peace in the 'City of Brotherly Love' this weekend. Perhaps, we need to close roads, slow down, take some time off, and reflect on what's really important a little more often.
And finally, I hear the 'Queen of Soul', Aretha Franklin, will be performing for Pope Francis later today, in addition to giving him a gift of sermons penned by her father, The Late Rev. C. L. Franklin. I'm very familiar with her father's sermons because my own father had a collection of them on vinyl, which he used to listen to all the time. May God continue to bless and strengthen all of our families in the days to come. Carry on and I will pray for you Pope Francis...
