National Grandparents Day Is Coming!

Please encourage the kiddies to do something, make something, and/or spend some quality time with their grandparents on Sunday, September 7, 2014. If they live far away, consider FaceTime or call them on the phone--but, try to avoid ecards and text messages, even if they're tech-savy. And, the same goes for all of us adults who are blessed to still have grandparents and great-grandparents in our lives. Take the time to show them some love on their special day! :)

A Mother's White Priviledge

This blog post actually links to another that was originally written by Manic Pixie Dream Mama on her blog of the same name. Finally, this is someone who actually sees the race problem for what it is in America. It is an excellent read, I applaud this mother for having the courage to write about it, and I recommend that EVERYONE take a few minutes to read it. It restores my faith that there are still some people out there who would like to put all of this behind us once and for all, and work toward truly becoming the "United" States of America. Click on the image or the text link underneath to visit her blog and read the post, as well as the comments that follow it. You'll be glad you took the time to do it. Thank you for your honesty, MPDM!

This is absolutely outrageous!!! A police officer is fired after fatally shooting a dog!!! A dog??? But, nothing is done when a police officer shoots an unarmed human being??? And, a Facebook page called 'Justice For Apollo' has even been started for this dog!!! And again, I ask--for a dog??? Are you really serious??? WTH is going on???

#HandsUp #DontShoot #MikeBrown #Ferguson

Photo release by the students of Howard University in solidarity over the recent shooting of unarmed black teen Michael Brown and the subsequent turmoil going on in Ferguson, MO. This is a definite 'frame and hang' on my blog and anywhere else I can put it. It's 2014! WTH America?

Old School Greek Picnic 2014

We had a great time with the grands yesterday in Fairmount Park at this year's OSGP. The kids wore red t-shirts to show their support for Pop-Pop's fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, and they had a chance to run and play for several hours. They were pretty worn out and fell asleep in the car by the time we got back to our house. Our youngest granddaughter was only with us for a few more hours and Daddy came to pick her up. My grandson and oldest granddaughter stayed for a sleepover and went to church with us this morning. We ended our weekend together with a mid-afternoon meal @ Perkins and then, we took them back home.

Think Twice Before Using New Facebook Messenger App

Facebook is crossing the line with its new Messenger App. I'm posting this information on Blogger and linking to the related article because many of you have Facebook accounts too. Take heed, my friends, and let a word to the wise be sufficient. Make sure you click on the Facebook image above and read the article if you downloaded the FB Messenger app to your phone. After that, you really need to share the article link with anyone else you care about who has done the same...
