Better Late Than Never...

I absolutely love it that my girl Valerie is receiving this L-O-N-G overdue honor. But, it's such a shame this wasn't done while the love her life and husband, Nick, was still alive to share it too. They were a dynamite songwriting and singing duo, and a shining example of what 'Black Love' and what 'Till Death Do Us Part' really means. Congratulations Sister Valerie and R.I.P. Nickolas Ashford (1941-2011)... #AshfordAndSimpson

Things That Make You Go, Hmmm...

Could this be the reason #45 lied about not appearing on the cover of Time Magazine being his choice and/or decision? It looks like #44 has graced the cover of TM 15 times and even his wife, Michelle, was on it once. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

GQ Citizen of the Year 2017

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder. If they take football away, my endorsements from me, I know that I stood up for what is right." - Colin Kaepernick

The names on his shirt, and countless others, represent Black people who used to be living human beings--but, their lives were cut short by 'trigger-happy' police who like to shoot first and ask questions later. If any one of these names represented a member of your family, you would fully understand his quote and what he did with no apologies.

If you have a problem with him kneeling during the national anthem, then all I can say is 'practice what you preach' and get over it. Isn't that what you always tell us to do? Just bear in mind, you're being told to get over someone kneeling during the national anthem; we're being told to get over the unjustified deaths of countless people at the hands of the police.

So, We're Taking God Out of Hotels Now?

It seems like another time-honored tradition is slowly disappearing in the interest of catering to the lifestyle of millennials. Now, don't get me wrong... I have nothing personal against them and they are definitely our future. But, I am getting tired of E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G under the sun being tailored exclusively toward their lifestyle only, as though the rest of us don't exist and have money to invest in the economy too. Hello! We're not dead yet and some of us are no where near it!

When was the last time you stayed overnight at a hotel and didn't find a Bible in the nightstand drawer next to the bed? It was comforting to know it was there if you needed it and something that never hurt a living soul. But, according to this article, they are slowly beginning to disappear from hotel rooms, and it's basically because it doesn't 'fit' the lifestyle of millennials. At the risk of sounding somewhat insensitive, so what and who cares? Excuse me, but they are NOT the only group of people renting hotel rooms. See what I mean?

Well, all I can say is God's Word will always be with me in one way or another as long as I live--in hard copy, electronically, and whatever format they decide to dream up over the next several years. And, of course, it will always be in my mind and heart where it counts the most. Fortunately, I don't have to depend on hotels to provide His word for me and I already know this is a battle that won't be won by previous generations because we are being shown everyday that our opinions about most things don't matter anymore.

If millennials are, indeed, the least religious generation, perhaps we should ask ourselves how that happened and what can be done about it? And, even more importantly, what would Jesus do about millennials and how would He handle the situation? Would He just give into their lack of interest in His Father and His word, or would He do everything within His power to help them make the connection? So, the only thing I can say in response to this article and the irresponsible decision of the hotel industry is... "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do!" #GodHelpUs
