🩺 CDC Seasonal Update
According to The Washington Post, common colds, COVID, Flu, and RSV are keeping kids out of school and parents are missing work in record numbers as a new round of viral infections run through families. These things are colliding with day care and school staffing shortages to create many unprecedented challenges for parents and teachers.
The CDC is encouraging everyone who is eligible to receive their COVID booster and Flu shot to get them ASAP. While the Flu and RSV are circulating at high levels, COVID is picking up and putting a strain on hospital ER departments. Wearing masks is highly recommended too. It is the best precaution people can take to stay well and reduce their chances of catching and/or spreading germs over the holiday season.
📣 Twitter Hate Speech
This information was released on Friday, December 2, 2022 and, of course, it's no surprise that Elon Musk disputes the accuracy. Just to be clear, hate speech is harmful to anyone and everyone who has to endure it. But, as usual, all of the news media attention and discussion seems to focus "the least" on the group experiencing the highest rise in hate speech.
So, even when Blacks are compared to other groups that are being discriminated against, we're still last to be considered (if at all) regardless of the amount of hate we're experiencing. The news media only include Blacks in general statements about the problem, and then move on to more in-depth discussions about the hate directed toward Gays and Jews.
And, remember when a hashtag and movement was started called "Stop Asian Hate" and Congress actually passed a bill to address it in 2021? I asked this question then and I'm still asking it now... What about Blacks who have endured this kind of hate for hundreds of years in America? Needless to say, I'm also still asking WTH and SMH to the sound of crickets...

💯 Quote of the Day
"Mr. Walker has been talking about issues that are of great importance to the people of Georgia... like whether it's better to be a vampire or a werewolf. This is a debate that I must confess I once had myself... when I was seven [years old]... then I grew up. As far as I'm concerned, he [Herschel] can be anything he wants to be... except for a United States Senator. When you spend more time thinking about horror movie fantasies than you do the people you want to represent, that says something about your priorities." - Barack Obama
