Our First Amendment Rights Are Under Attack
If there is ever a time that we need to 'STAY WOKE' and pay attention to what's going on, it is now. This article is a must-read. If President Trump and the GOP get their way, the right to 'peaceful protest' could become illegal and in particular, this appears to be aimed at 'people of color'. As you know, they hate the Black Lives Matter movement because it is viewed as being 'anti-police' (no matter how many times we try to explain otherwise), and they are equally tired of Native Americans protesting the Dakota Pipeline. This article will also give you an idea of just how far some of our fellow citizens are willing to go to rid themselves of these situations. Don't just read the headline... read the article. This Is Why A Liar Cannot Tarry In God's Sight (Part 1)
I'm sorry, but this information is W-A-Y too late to do anyone any good at this point, and it just makes me angry that this young boy lost his life for nothing. The accuser, Carolyn Bryant, didn't even have the decency to come forward with this information while Emmett's mother, Mamie Till, was still alive. But, for the sake of historical truth, the article is worth a read if you've got the time.
Carolyn, her husband, and her brother-in-law didn't fare too well after Emmett's death, but that was a little 'God don't like ugly' mixed with a good old fashioned dose of Karma. The husband and brother-in-law were found not guilty, so absolutely no one was held accountable for the 14 year old boy's murder. And, to add insult to injury, the husband and brother-in-law were actually stupid enough to sell their story to Look Magazine after they were acquitted, in which both of them admitted they did, in fact, murder Emmett. The magazine paid them $4,000.00 for the confession and exclusive story.
Now, 62 years after Emmett's death in 1955 and 13 years after his mother's death in 2003, the liar who caused this horrific chain of events by falsely accusing Emmett of making inappropriate advances at her, has finally decided to come forward and admit she lied. Well, all I can say is, I'm not impressed. As far as I'm concerned, this is all about Carolyn again. Whether she is trying to clear her conscious, preparing to meet her maker, or whatever the case maybe--it's still all about her. It wasn't about Emmett when she lied at his murders' trial, and it's not about him now. For all the good this information can do at this point, which is nothing, perhaps she should have taken the lie with her to the grave.

Congrats BET On Success Of New Edition Story!
If you missed the three-part premiere on January 24th, 25th, and 26th, you can catch the encore presentations on the following days and times: Saturday, 1/28 from 11am-5pm; Saturday, 1/28 from 5pm-11pm; Monday, 1/30 from 8pm-2am; Monday, 2/20 from 6pm-12am. BET will air Parts 1-3 consecutively (6 hours). Click on the image or text link underneath to read all about it. When they first hit the scene as little boys in the early '80s, New Edition was the 'Jackson 5' of my daughter's generation, and I sat along side her as she watched them growing up--just like my parents did with The Jacksons.
However, as the members of New Edition became young men, the relationship struggles within the group began to resemble another infamous Motown group, The Temptations. NE definitely had their share of ups, downs, drama, and all out brawls--and, the persona of Bobby Brown mirrors The Late Great David Ruffin. But, just like The Jacksons and The Temptations, we're all proud of their career, which has spanned some 30+ years in spite of all that, and BET did a fantastic job of presenting a 'no holds barred' biopic of their musical journey from boys to men. So, I give it 5 stars and 2TU with a snap and a twist!

Take Note Republicans: U Give As Good As U Get!
I will do my part to make sure this great American mistake becomes the embarrassing footnote of our history that it deserves to be, as quickly as possible. I will do my part to limit the damage that this man can do to my country. I will vote. I will watch his every move and point out every single mistake and misdeed in a loud and proud voice. Do not call for my tolerance. I've tolerated all I can. Now, it's their turn to tolerate ridicule. Be aware, make no mistake about it, every single thing that goes wrong in our country from this day forward is now Trump's fault just as much as they thought it was Obama's. I find it unreasonable for them to expect from me what they were entirely unwilling to give. They will find no shelter here.
Yes, if it helps anyone, anywhere, please share."
Footnote: A few days after the presidential election, this comment was posted by Jeremy Mitchell on November 10, 2016 @ 9:14pm in response to a status on The Rachel Maddow Show Facebook page. The comment received 10,500+ likes and 1,000+ comments as of this writing. It has been altered, copied, and shared many times by others, but it appears on this blog the way Jeremy originally wrote it and links to it to prove it. I understand how he feels, so I'm sharing his comment as well. Now that the inauguration is over and Donald Trump is actually the president, Jeremy's comment is even more relevant than the day it was written. Apparently, President Trump and 'his' America have very short memories. Watch this video and revisit how they behaved after Obama won his second term of office in 2012. Two wrongs don't make a right, but the people in this video are in no position to tell anyone else how to behave now!

Joy & Pain...
I would like to say 'Thank You' to President Obama for having the audacity to dream, hope, and overcome. I also want to thank the American people who had enough belief in his abilities to give him a chance to serve for the last eight years. Because of you, I had the opportunity to witness something that I was told would never happen for most of my life. I am grateful that I lived to see his presidency and it was an experience I will never forget. He is the first and only president my three grandchildren have known, and I thank God they saw him early enough in life to know it's possible.
So, whether or not I see this again in the time I have left, I won't fret because I've seen the best. Job well done, go in peace, and may God continue to bless you and your family in the days ahead. We love you and we will miss you... but, it's time for you to find out what else God has in store for you!

Obamacare Is The Affordable Care Act, Duh!
This is a note for Trump supporters and anyone else who didn't or still doesn't know Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) are one in the same. But, you actually had a little help with that misconception without realizing it. By nicknaming the ACA 'Obamacare', the GOP led you straight to the hole of believing they were two different things and you fell right into it.
Also, if your kids have CHIP, they may loose their healthcare too because you didn't want to vote for the woman who played a major role in putting CHIP in place for your kids during the time her husband was president. That's right, you have Hillary Clinton to thank for CHIP. But, let me quess... you didn't know that either, right?
President Obama tried to help you with the ACA and Hillary tried to help you with CHIP. Face it, your vote for President-Elect Donald J. Trump went against your own best interests. And, yes... that's exactly what the Republicans knew and expected you to do--thus, the rationale behind nicknaming the ACA 'Obamacare'. So, the joke's on you now and you have to deal with it. "I didn't know" isn't going to save you this time. The damage is already done.
So, let a word to the wise be sufficient. You better start thinking about a healthcare contingency plan for yourself and your children. If Obamacare aka the ACA is repealed, it will be just one of many things your president-elect is going to do to 'Make America Great Again' over the next four years. The only problem is (and, I've asked this before), great for WHO? You? Me? Anyone we know? I don't think so... God help us!

Congrats & Two Thumps Up Meryl Streep!
If you're like me and sometimes refrain from watching awards shows because they're not inclusive enough, there are too many of them, or just whatever the case maybe, we sometimes miss an important moment in which someone chooses to 'stand up' and say something powerful that needs to be said. Such a moment occurred this evening at the Golden Globe Awards when Meryl Streep accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award.
I heard about it on the 11:00pm news, and then searched for her speech on YouTube so I could hear it for myself. Kudos to Meryl for having the courage to 'call out' President-Elect Donald Trump for his 'bully' behavior, speech, etc. I'm sure he will start retaliating with Tweets before the night is over (he needs to grow up), but given the strength of character Meryl has, I'm sure she is sitting back, waiting, and saying, "Bring it on, Donald!" Standing up and applauding! YGG!
