Black History Matters All Day, Every Day

This post is in remembrance of the many events commemorating the original march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, AL on March 7, 1965—better known historically as "Bloody Sunday". The photo is from the 50th anniversary march in 2015, which was led by President Obama.

It is now March 7, 2021 and there are still forces at work via people who want to deny us our constitutional right to vote. All I can say to that is the same thing so many others have already said before me. We've come too far to turn back now and we won't be turned around.

R.I.P. to Rep. John Lewis, who was also present at the marches over the years. His casket was taken across the bridge by horse-drawn carriage during a memorial service on July 26, 2020, which symbolized his final crossing.
