"On this day in 1968, we lost Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. but his impact remains deeply rooted in the world we live in. Dr. King challenged our nation to rise to its highest ideals and he believed we could make change peacefully, no matter the ordeal. As a preacher and scholar, he spoke truth to power, committed to changing the system, and sought African American freedom to be more than an ideal, but our right! Today, we remember his voice, his leadership, and honor his life."
