Macy's Department Store is closing today, so after 69 years the Christmas Light Show will be no more. Christmas 2024 was its last run because the building has been sold and the new owners want to use it for living, office, and retail spaces. I'm glad my daughter and grandchildren had a chance to see it too. The show began its run in 1956 (2 years before I was born) and would have been 70 years old in 2026. It was a Philadelphia tradition that will be missed by generations of people who are old enough to remember.
