Did you know this day is set aside to commemorate opening day of the first drive-in theater in 1933. A shoutout to Richard M. Hollingshead, Jr. of Camden, NJ for the concept and creation. During the pandemic, when people were unsure if they wanted to sit in a crowded movie theater ever again, it was rumored for a short time that drive-ins might make a huge comeback and then, crickets. The good news is there are 335 still operating across the U.S., but that number is way down from 4,000 during their peak in the 1950s-60s. Before all of them are closed forever, celebrate and support those that are hanging in there if one is close to you!
