The family of Bobby Caldwell has been requesting prayers for the ailing singer for over a year. According to recently released information from Bobby Caldwell Entertainment, many people have been inquiring about the singer's condition and the concern has been greatly appreciated. In an effort to finally explain what has happened to him, the following statement was released...
In January 2017, Bobby was given an antibiotic. After taking the drug for several days, he experienced bilateral achilles tendon ruptures and developed peripheral neuropathy. Despite these injuries, Bobby continued to perform with the aid of a wheelchair, cane, and his helpers—but ultimately, he had to cancel his scheduled performances in 2021.
Unfortunately, Bobby's condition continues to worsen. He has a great deal of neuropathy pain and his mobility is limited. He always planned on performing and making music for the rest of his life and never could have anticipated what happened to him. It's truly heartbreaking.
Over the past couple of years, many of you have sent Bobby greeting cards and letters. It lifts his spirits. He reads all of the correspondence. If you're interested in sending a note to him, his mailing address is: Bobby Caldwell, P.O. Box 6, Great Meadows, NJ 07838. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
I've been a Bobby Caldwell fan from day one and I own every album from "What You Won't Do For Love" (1978) to "Cool Uncle" (2015). I would encourage anyone who unknowingly thought he was "one and done" after his signature debut to read his extensive Wikipedia page because you missed so many years of great music from him. As a subscriber to his website, I started receiving emails canceling tour dates and requesting prayers for him in 2021.
It's good to finally know what happened and how he is doing. Knowing is always better than not knowing. The statement you read from BCE is also posted on his Facebook page. Click on this public post link and login to leave comments, prayers, and words of encouragement for him. It is the least I could do for someone I've been listening to through so many years of life's ups and downs via the gift of their music.
