Mother, No Words Could Ever Express My Love For You
Looking back, I can see many sacrifices you made along the way. Some were small and some were too great to repay, but they were all made without hesitation—because you loved me. As I think of all my yesterdays, I recall so many times when you turned my tears into laughter and so many problems you helped me face. You were a shoulder to lean on when I needed you and you were always there—because you loved me. As I grew older, you couldn't always be with me but you were there in spirit, giving guidance whenever I needed it and helping me make every decision. You taught me to be strong and to believe in myself. You taught me right from wrong—because you loved me. Now, I look back on the years and realize how lucky I have been. You were and are a very special part of my life. I want to thank you for helping me become the person I am now, and for giving me the courage to reach my dreams. My life is rich and my heart is full because of you. I love you too. – Deanne Laura Gilbert
In 1991, I gave this book of poems and companion wall calendar of select poems to my mom. All of the poems are about mothers and they are written by various poets. After she had some time to read the book, I remember telling her the poem by Deanne was my favorite and she really loved it too. I didn't know she kept these things over the years, but I'm glad she did. I found them in her dresser drawer after she passed away. #SpecialMemories
