Justice For All...
The long-awaited murder trial of Derek Chauvin started today and as far as I'm concerned, America is on trial right along with him. We have been waiting a long time for change and justice to come from all of the brutality and lives lost over the decades at the hands of police.
From The Late Rodney King, who was the first to have his savage beating recorded on video for the world to see on March 3, 1991, to The Late George Floyd and beyond, because more have been beaten and murdered since his death last year... justice MUST prevail.
And, we can't forget about young black males like Elijah McClain. He was described as "different" and possibly autistic. He was murdered by the police simply because he was misunderstood, and there are others like him who suffered the same fate.
All you need to know is how long Chauvin kneeled on Floyd, and the paramedics had to physically remove him when they arrived on the scene because he continued to kneel on him after they got there. Chauvin made a conscious decision to end Floyd's life and he did... period!

Cooking 101 / Childhood Memories
My youngest granddaughter likes to help mom cook.
Yesterday, she peeled the potatoes for mashed potatoes!
Yesterday, she peeled the potatoes for mashed potatoes!
My oldest granddaughter learned how to make a keychain
out of gimp from mom, like she did when she was young.
This brings back memories of my childhood as well!

The Ten Commandments
This year marks the 65th anniversary of the 1956 epic film by Cecil B. DeMille. It will air Saturday, April 3rd @ 7:00pm (ET) on ABC. "So let it be written. So let it be done!"
Have A Blessed Palm Sunday!
Even though my heart is heavy today because this is the second year that I couldn't attend Sunday Morning Worship Service in person to get my palms like I've done ever since I was a little girl, I'm still praising GOD for another year of life and the lives of my loved ones in the midst of this Coronavirus pandemic. I know HE is still in control and worthy to be praised! #HolyWeek

🍎 Spring Break
A well-deserved time of renewal for parents,
students, and teachers. Be safe, relax, and enjoy your week!
The Road Back to Normal
After my grandson's karate class today, we decided to have brunch @ Cracker Barrel (Plymouth Meeting). It is such a beautiful day and it feels really good to sit on the front porch and 'rock-a-spell' while we wait for our table. It's been a long time and sometimes, it felt like we wouldn't be able to enjoy this simple pleasure ever again. TGBTG!

💯 Women's History Month Special Event
Hi There!
As we near the end of Women’s History Month, there’s no better time to celebrate the power that lies inside every girl and pay it forward to the next generation of inspiring young women. That’s why I’m so thrilled that tonight POPSUGAR is hosting "Girl Talk: Knowledge Is Our Superpower", a virtual event dedicated to girls’ education and empowerment and featuring the stories of the Girls Opportunity Alliance.
You’ll get to meet girls all over the world, hear a musical performance from Kelly Clarkson, and get advice about how to pursue your goals and support each other. Auli’i Cravalho will share why it’s so important for girls to dream big. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan will discuss how girls can carve out their own paths, even when they’re the first or the only person to try something new. And Marsai Martin will teach a new course: Stepping Into Your Power 101. Along the way we’ll be joined by many other special guests, all in support of adolescent girls’ education around the world and our work with the Girls Opportunity Alliance.
I also can’t wait to introduce you to two remarkable students during the special: Sonali Pathak from India and Turipamue Kazohua from Namibia, who are both 15 years old and who joined me and Lilly Singh for a conversation about what their education has been like during the pandemic. Of course, these young women faced challenges to getting an education even before COVID-19, but organizations in the Girls Opportunity Alliance community have helped them to keep learning while remaining healthy and safe. Tonight you’ll learn about their challenges and their dreams, from Turipamue’s love for the debate club at her school to Sonali’s favorite karate lessons in her community.
These young women are going to inspire you as much as they inspire me—I know it. And the truth is, there are girls like them in every corner of the globe, who are eager to learn and absolutely determined to get an education worthy of their promise. So join us tonight, and then do your part to pay it forward to the next generation of young women. We’ve made it easy to do just that by releasing a new fundraising toolkit on the Girls Opportunity Alliance website that will help you to take action, from hosting a virtual trivia night to leading a solo fun run—and if you’re a parent, you can do this with your kids and show them what it means to give back.
You can watch the special tonight at 9:00pm ET at PopSugar and TLC, or catch an encore presentation at 10:00pm ET on OWN. So, I hope you’ll spread the word and tune in to join us in celebration of all of the women and girls in your life and all around the world.
I hope this special hour of girl power motivates and inspires you to help us ensure the world knows that, as Sonali says, "girls are magic."

Aries The Ram
Today my hubby is celebrating 63 years, or 756 months, or 3,287 weeks, or 23,013 days, or 552,264 hours, or 33,135,840 minutes, or 1,988,150,400 seconds of life and God's blessings. I love you and He loves you so enjoy your born day, and keep counting all the blessings that are coming your way!
Keep The Change!
The birthday man is enjoying his FREE stack of pancakes, compliments of IHOP (Ardmore), and $0 is his favorite price! We went back home after brunch because it was raining "cats and dogs" outside. What a bummer, but the celebration will continue at other times during the week...

"A BLACK BELT IS A WHITE BELT THAT NEVER QUITS"
Here are a few pics of the #BrownBelt graduation ritual my grandson participated in on Saturday after karate class. We discovered from the certificate that goes along with it the official title is "3rd Kyu Brown Belt". Thanks to Sensei Connor for everything he has done to get him to this level and Madison for taking these pics!

Make them PAY for putting their own personal elections, interests, and misguided loyalties to #45 before YOU! Take out the trash by voting them out of office at election time. And, I don't know why they are not among the pics but don't forget Ted Cruz & Josh Hawley!

❤️ Love Vs. Hate
So, what is it going to be America? The choice is up to all of us, but just know that we will NEVER go back to the racist reality of a country that excludes people of color. This country needs to move forward in the direction of becoming a more perfect union and one nation under GOD which includes everyone... because THAT is what America should have been in the first place!
❤️ Love Vs. Hate
And, BTW... if you happen to be a White Supremacist,
you're not welcome here so get off my blog with the quickness!

Atlantic Spa Shootings
We were just discussing a couple of days ago that one of the good things that happened because of the Coronavirus lockdown and social distancing is we had no mass shootings. Now, that sense of serenity has been shattered once again because the madness returned last night. Sending out condolences and prayers of comfort and healing for the victims' families of the Atlanta Spa Shootings.

⏰ End Daylight Saving Time
Why is the U.S. the only country that does this and
who's idea was it anyway? I'm getting too old for it!
⏰ Quality Time w/ The Grands
We had another sleepover weekend with the grands. My grandson came over Friday night so we could take him to karate class Saturday morning, then my granddaughters joined us later that day to spend the night too!
And, it really was a "sleepover weekend" in every sense of the word! These grands are gettin' old, but Grammy had to put an end to the Saturday afternoon napping so we were not up all night—and, we were about to lose an hour of sleep too? Oh, No!

COVID-19: Vax-A-Nation 1
Well, I received my 1st shot of the Moderna vaccine earlier this afternoon at a different location from the hubby on Monday. I also had to hang out at the site for 30 minutes afterward, just in case I had an adverse reaction to it, then I was free to leave. The line wasn't long and it was over and done within an hour. My arm is sore right now, but everything went well. Both of us will be getting our 2nd shots in early April!

COVID-19: Vax-A-Nation 1
The hubby received his 1st shot of the Moderna vaccine yesterday morning. He was told to stay at the site for 30 minutes just in case he had any adverse effects from it, then he was free to leave. He was gone for about 3 hours and aside from his arm being a little sore, everything went well. Now, it's one down and me to go!

🙍🏾♀️ In Honor of Mom...
On this International Women's Day, I also want to post mom's favorite quote because she was (and still is) my #1 female role model. It is based on a variety of scriptures from the Bible, she said it countless times over the course of her life, and she did her best to live by it every day... "The race is not always given to the swift or the strong, but to those who endure to the end." She kept the faith, she fought the good fight, and she finished the race. Don't give up and keep running!
🙍🏾♀️ It's International Women's Day
Because March is Women's History Month and today is also International Women's Day, here are 12 inspirational quotes by women for women!
1. "If you're always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be." - Maya Angelou
2. "Tremendous amounts of talent are being lost to our society just because that talent wears a skirt." - Shirley Chisholm
3. "To all the little girls who are watching, never doubt that you are valuable, powerful, and deserving of every opportunity in the world and every chance to pursue your dreams." - Hillary Clinton
4. "Do not live in someone else's life and someone else's idea of womanhood. Womanhood is you and everything that's inside of you." - Viola Davis
5. "Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you." - Ruth Bader Ginsburg
6. Amazing things happen when women help other women." - Kasia Gospos
7. "What's important for my daughter to know is that if you are fortunate to have opportunity, it is your duty to make sure other people have those opportunities as well." - Kamala Harris
8. "I don't have a feeling of inferiority. Never had. I'm as good as anybody, but no better." - Katherine Johnson
9. "There's power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, and in using your authentic voice." - Michelle Obama
10. "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." - Eleanor Roosevelt
11. "The success of every woman should be an inspiration to another. We should raise each other up. Make sure you’re very courageous. Be strong, be extremely kind, and above all be humble." - Serena Williams
12. "When you undervalue what you do, the world will undervalue who you are." - Oprah Winfrey
Ladies, I just love this and had to repost!

Black History Matters All Day, Every Day
This post is in remembrance of the many events commemorating the original march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, AL on March 7, 1965—better known historically as "Bloody Sunday". The photo is from the 50th anniversary march in 2015, which was led by President Obama.
It is now March 7, 2021 and there are still forces at work via people who want to deny us our constitutional right to vote. All I can say to that is the same thing so many others have already said before me. We've come too far to turn back now and we won't be turned around.
R.I.P. to Rep. John Lewis, who was also present at the marches over the years. His casket was taken across the bridge by horse-drawn carriage during a memorial service on July 26, 2020, which symbolized his final crossing.
