Then & Now Challenge
A long time ago and not so long ago. Remember the days of BIG glasses? Well, the glasses got smaller while my eyesight got worst! LOL!

She Was Every Woman...
Cicely was an American treasure. I heard the sad news from my daughter while I was eating dinner this evening. My exposure to this extraordinary actress goes w-a-y back, and the first three roles I ever saw her in will always be nearest and dearest to my heart. I was 14 years old when our class went on a trip to the movies to see "Sounder" in 1972; I was 15 years old when the teacher gave our class an assignment to watch "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman" in 1974; and I was 18 years old, glued to the TV for a week, when "Roots" originally aired in 1977. Of course, she went on to play many more roles after that and when she gave a performance, you were NEVER disappointed. The last time I enjoyed watching her was on "How to Get Away With Murder" and she was excellent. Bravo and rest well, Cicely. You will be greatly missed!
⏳ #TBT Like Mother, Like Daughter
These side-by-side photos represent something I like to call "Like This, Like That" and I've done several of them before, but usually with the grands. This time, it's graduation pics with me on the left in my Bartram HS drape from 1976 and my daughter on the right in her Overbrook HS feathers from 1999. Time is moving on!

🥰 Better Late Than Never
I just Googled, it's true, and the day is almost over. We gotta do a
better job of keeping up with all these national days on the internet!
Old Images of Philadelphia
It's 1919 and a paper boy stands in front of a closed theater in Philadelphia. The sign posted on the window of the ticket box proclaims, "All theatres closed until further notice at request of Mayor." In the first 6 months of the Spanish Flu Pandemic, the city's death toll reached 70,000. When lessons are not learned from history, it is repeated. We're not out of the woods yet and you know what to do to help stop the spread. Just do it!

My Grandson Was Born Today!
Tuesday's child is full of grace and my grandson is 15 years old today! I won't ask where the time is going again because I know the answer... it's just going w-a-y too fast. May God continue to bless, guide, and watch over you every day. Grammy loves you and He loves you more! #AquariusTheWaterBearer

Spoken Words Matter
I know Maya Angelou was smiling down on Amanda Gorman yesterday. At 22 years old, she is the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history and her presentation was outstanding. Click on the image or text link underneath to read the full text of her poem!

Prayers For The Nation
The Capitol looks beautiful, quiet, and serene the night before the
inauguration, and I'm praying for a peaceful transfer of power tomorrow!

Adios, Farewell, Goodbye & Good Riddance
Well, it won't be long now. The Worst President in U.S. History will soon vacate the White House and his page will be taken down on the website. Of course, the place needs to be fumigated from top to bottom before the new administration moves into the building. Gotta get rid of all those fast food odors and COVID-19 germs he and his people left behind. And please, excuse me if I don't feel the need to "see him off" in the helicopter or whatever like I did for President Obama. I will be entirely too busy getting ready for the inauguration of our new President, Joseph Biden, and First Female & Black Female Vice President, Kamala Harris.
Look, all I can say to him is, don't let the door knob hitcha where The Good Lord splitcha on your way out of the White House. Personally, I don't ever want to see or hear from him again as a political figure. And, for God's sake... I hope he finds a good psychiatrist and gets some help before it's too late. In fact, a lot of people who consider themselves his base, followers, and/or supporters need to do the same if there is any chance in hell that this nation is going to come together again. It's not impossible, but not likely to happen right away. They say time is a great healer and people are going to need plenty of it to recover from the collateral damage of #45.
So, may God bless, guide, and keep the incoming Biden-Harris administration because through no fault of their own, they are inheriting one helluva mess!

🌹 MLK Day Quote
"You maybe 38 years old, as I happen to be. And, one day, some great opportunity stands before you and calls you to stand up for some great principle, some great issue, some great cause. And, you refuse to do it because you want to live longer... or you're afraid that you will lose your job... or you will be criticized... or you will lose your popularity... or that someone will stab you, shoot at you, or bomb your house... so, you refuse to take the stand. Well, you may go on and live until you are 90 years old, but you're just as dead at 38 as you would be at 90. And, the cessation of breathing in your life is but the belated announcement of an earlier death of the spirit."

Philly Annual T-Shirt Memorial
This annual display @ OPC on the corner of City & Lancaster Avenues is always a heartbreaker. According to the news, 415 lives were lost to gun violence throughout the city in 2020, which is about 100 more than 2019. Sending up prayers of comfort for all the families that suffered such a loss, and prayers for peace around the city so this display won't be necessary anymore. #RIP

🎥 Growing Up 2 Fast
I took a break from the news and made a video. The music is "Walking in the Sky" from YouTube's copyright free audio library. It might not win an Oscar, but some of my favorite people are the stars and I love it! ❤️
Quote of the Day
"Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. To these I commit my day. If I succeed, I will give thanks. If I fail, I will seek His grace. And then, when this day is done, I will place my head on my pillow and rest." - Chapter 11 excerpt from the book "When God Whispers Your Name" by Max Lucado.

The Man Cannot Be Trusted
What I want to know is how quickly can he be amended, banned,
impeached, restricted, and removed from the White House? Get it done!
Counting The Days
I know God is in control, so I'm praying for a blessed, happy, peaceful, and safe Inauguration Day for Joe & Kamala. And ladies, don't forget to wear your pearls in honor of our first female VP! #11Days2Go

Domestic Terrorism & Racism In America
The Lady (Bug) Household agrees with the content of this note and decided to share it. We hope you will do the same to help raise awareness to Black Lives Matter. We don't want police to escalate the situation and shoot them like they shoot us. We want police to de-escalate the situation and NOT shoot us like they DON'T shoot them. Our lives are just as important and we matter too!

DC Protest & GA Runoff
I've noticed recently that whenever #45 supporters gather in DC, everyone else is being advised to stay away. I understand this is done to avoid possible clashes between opposing sides and safety concerns, so I'm not against the precaution. But, I've also noticed that whenever BLM supporters and other activist groups gather in DC for various reasons, nothing is said advising everyone else to stay away to avoid the same.
When will America learn that we need "one" precedent that is fair and respects everyone? This notion that "some" people should actually be given the room and space to do whatever they damn well please while "other" people are not allowed to do the same is NOT going to work. Of course, it goes without saying that I will continue to pray for peace and ask God to keep a watchful eye on DC and GA for the next several days.

Things That Make You Go Hmmm...
"I don't normally play numbers, but there might be something to this notion of 11,780! Who knows? If they find all the balls in the same order, I'll be a winner!"
