R.I.P. George Floyd & Prayers For His Family

An unarmed black man was pressed down onto concrete with a solid 200 lbs. sitting directly on his neck. He cried out for water. He cried out for his deceased mother, and once he realized he could no longer breathe, he cried out for mercy and he begged for his life. His nose bled and he lost control of his bladder. Yet, he remained trapped and handcuffed under the weight of a white cop's knee.

Onlookers tried to intervene, only to be threatened with pepper spray. Even when he lost consciousness, the weight of that knee stayed firm on his neck. When first responders demanded they check for a pulse, the cops refused. When off-duty medical personnel begged for the cop to get up off his neck, he refused. America watched the video of a black man being killed in broad daylight for 10 agonizing minutes.

Now, people will dig through everything he’s done wrong in his life and they will roll their eyes at this post. We will see his mug shot and he will become a villain, even though the surveillance video does not support the cops' claims that he resisted arrest. But, there is no crime that justifies this punishment. Whether he had a criminal history, mental health issues, etc., there is no justification for his death. He was a human being who deserved better than he got. #DareToCareRepost

Kneeling in America

Two men are kneeling, but America only has a problem with the one of the left, Colin Kaepernick, who is peacefully protesting what the one on the right, Derek Chauvin, is doing--cops murdering unarmed black people without just cause or provocation. As an American citizen, Colin is exercising his constitutional right to protest the atrocities that are committed every single day against black people at the hands of the police in this country, while Derek is making a cold-blooded and conscious decision to end the life of an unarmed black man, George Floyd, whose life didn't matter and he was deemed unworthy to live.

Dylan Roof, who is white and privileged because of it, wasn't treated this way when he was apprehended and he murdered 9 black people in a church! Something tells me if his victims had been white, the narrative would have been different--but, that's another post for another day. The point is, his life mattered so he was taken into custody alive and the arresting cops had the nerve to buy him some food from Burger King afterward because HE was hungry. I guess I would be hungry too after a murder-spree of that magnitude. Are you serious? I am beyond outraged and Derek Chauvin should be charged with murder!

#45NotMyPresident

It has been reported that President Trump will not be unveiling his predecessor Barack Obama’s official White House portrait anytime soon. It was first reported that the event to unveil Obama's official portrait wasn't currently on the calendar, and may not even occur while Trump is in office—including potentially throughout the duration of a second term, if he wins re-election. This would mean it could be the year 2025 before Obama's portrait unveiling happens, despite Obama leaving office in 2017.

The tradition of first-term presidents hosting their predecessor dates back decades through many administrations and is supposed to represent a rare moment of harmony and camaraderie in Washington. Trump has disrespected Obama many times before, but this is unforgiveable. Historically, Obama was America's first Black president and he should have been honored as such. Please #VOTE by any means necessary in November 2020 and let's get Trump the hell outta the White House. After this, his handling of the Coronavirus Pandemic, and everything else he has done to divide this nation, he's gotta go!

And, regarding the question of whether or not the above painting of Obama is the official portrait to be hung in the White House, according to SNOPES it's false. It was painted by Dutch artist Edwin van den Dikkenberg and has no official connections to Obama or the White House. The painting first went viral in 2017, when it was also shared on the internet as if it were an official portrait of Obama. At the time, Dikkenberg stated that he was excited his painting received so much attention, but confirmed that this was not an official portrait.

Scripture of the Day

Lord, you know all about it, so I need not say anymore. My faith teaches me that "this too shall pass" and in my heart, I believe it will. But, at this particular moment, I feel the same way Jesus did when He was dying on the cross. Right now, I desperately need a sign, a touch, or a word from You, letting me know that everything will be alright!

🤔 Parental Wisdom Stikes Again

When I was growing up and asked my father a "Can I do such-and-such a thing" question and he said "No", I always asked him "WHY?" and his response was always the same. "Why is an unanswered question!" Needless to say, I hated that response, especially when I was a teenager, because I felt it didn't really answer my question and I didn't understand what it meant. But, the older I get, the more that response actually makes sense to me because I know now there are so many "WHY" questions in life that will NEVER be answered, even when you ask God.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

"Mothers believe in us more than we believe in ourselves, do more for us than they do for themselves, worry about us more than we realize, pray for us more than we'll ever know, value us more than anything else in the world, give us more than they can afford, and love us more than anyone else can. They can take the place of all others, but no one can take their place." 👑 #MomQuotes

A Special Tribute For Autism Moms

When The Good Lord was creating mothers, He was into his sixth day of "overtime" when an angel appeared and said, "You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one."

And the Lord said, "Have you read the specs on this order? She has to be completely washable, but not plastic, have 180 moveable parts – all replaceable, run on black coffee and leftovers, have a lap that disappears when she stands up, a kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a disappointed love affair, six pairs of hands, ears that will hear things she doesn't want to hear, a mouth that can gently kiss away scrapes and bruises and yet, tear the hide right off of those who try anything against the best interests of her child."

"Yes, this model will have to be able to sit patiently and listen to outlandish reports about her child without flinching. She will have to hear how hopeless it all is and know that it isn't so. She will have to have those kinds of eyes which don't tear when she hears other mothers talk about how well things are going for their children," said the Lord.

The angel shook its head slowly and said, "Six pairs of hands? No way!" "It's not the hands that are causing the problems. It's the three pairs of eyes this mother has to have," said the Lord. "That's on the standard model?" asked the angel.

The Lord nodded and said, "One pair that sees through closed doors when she asks, 'What are you kids doing in there?' when she already knows. Another pair here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn't but what she has to know and, of course, the ones here in front that can look at a child when he goofs up for the 99th time and say, 'I understand and I love you anyway' without so much as uttering a word."

"Lord," said the angel, touching his sleeve gently, "come to bed. Finish her tomorrow." "I can't," answered the Lord, "I'm very close to creating something so close to myself. Already I have one who heals herself when she is sick, feeds a family of six on one pound of hamburger, and gets her 9 year old to stand under a shower." The angel circled the model of the mother very slowly. "It's too soft," the angel sighed.

"But tough!" said the Lord excitedly. "You cannot imagine what this mother can do or endure." "Can she think?" asked the angel. "Not only can she think," said the Lord, "she can reason and compromise."

Finally, the angel bent over and ran a finger across the cheek of the mother. "There is a leak," the angel pronounced, "I told you that you are trying to put too much into this model." "That's not a leak," said the Lord, "it's a tear." "What's it for?" asked the angel.

"Tears are for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness, and pride… this mother will know a lot about all of that," answered the Lord. "But you know," He continued, "I don't even remember putting that tear there." "By the way," asked the angel, "what will you call this model?" The Lord replied, "I will call this one simply, the mother of an autistic child."

COVID-19: Senior Shopping

It was 6:45am at a grocery store that opened at 7:00am for seniors only. A young man came from the parking lot and tried to cut in at the front of the line forming outside, but an old lady beat him back into the parking lot with her cane. The young man returned and tried to cut in again, but an old man punched him in the gut, then kicked him to the ground and rolled him away. As the young man approached the line for the third time he said, "If you don't let me unlock the door, you'll never get in there!" 😂

COVID-19: Quarantine Breakdown

“Be careful because people are going crazy from being on lockdown! Actually, I was just talking about this with the microwave and toaster while drinking coffee, and we all agreed that things are getting bad. I didn't mention anything to the washing machine because she puts a different spin on everything. I didn't discuss it with the fridge either because he is acting cold and distant. In the end, the iron straightened me out and she said everything will be fine because no situation is too pressing. The vacuum cleaner was very unsympathetic and told me to just suck it up, but the fan was more optimistic and hoped it would all blow over soon! The toilet looked a bit flushed when I asked its opinion and didn’t say anything, but the door knob told me to get a grip. The front door said I was unhinged and the curtains told me... yes, you guessed it... to pull myself together!" 😂
