I made a personal decision not to watch The Oscars this evening. I've never been hung-up on 'The Red Carpet' fashion competition and to be honest, most of the films that are nominated this year, I haven't seen. If anything 'out of the ordinary' happens, including comments made by host Chris Rock, I've resigned myself to reading about them tomorrow. And, if you add to that the ‪#‎OscarsSoWhite‬ controversy, it all spelled ‪#‎IJustCant‬ this year for me. Instead, I would like to take this time to lift up and remember the 14 persons of color who won the award in the past via this slideshow I found on the Praise 103.9 website. 'Hero Mom' Update

Remember the riots in Baltimore back in 2015? And, remember when mom, Toya Graham, found her teenage son, Michael, taking part in the rioting and issued him some good old-fashioned discipline that was recorded on video and went viral? Well, what she did paid off. Michael credits his mom for that moment because her actions caused him to make some changes in his life. He's now in Los Angeles helping promote a new computer coding class at LA Trade Tech! #OldSchoolDiscipline
