📺 Childhood TV Memories

How many of you remember when the only thing you had to do on Saturday morning was wake-up, make a bowl of cereal, turn on the TV, and enjoy non-stop cartoons while mom and dad slept-in because they were dead-tired from the work week? Well, ME-TV is bringing cartoons back to Saturday mornings in January. Most of us are busy or might prefer to sleep-in since we're the "old heads" now, but you might want to pass this info on to the grands, kiddies, etc. so they can know the joy of watching real Saturday morning cartoons!

⏳ #FBF Time Flies

I can't believe this was 10 years ago! It is the first of several fundraising events we participated in over the years on behalf of our grandson (4 years old) and others who need our support for various reasons. My oldest granddaughter (1 year old) was there too, but this event took place before my youngest granddaughter was born. It was a fun day of exercise via walking for the cause with the family!

🙏🏾 Prayer Changes Things

Dear Heavenly Father,

We admit that, at times, we are confused and don't know what to think. The spread of Coronavirus is happening rapidly throughout our world again. We pray for those who are sick to be healed. We pray that those who have lost loved ones to death are comforted. We come to Your throne of grace to ask You to protect our communities, families, and loved ones from the virus. We pray for our medical providers and scientists, who are trying to help us understand and overcome the virus. We pray for our government leaders, officials, and others in authority to have the desire and knowledge to make decisions that are in the best interest of the people they serve rather than their own personal and political agendas. We pray for those in the media to give us the information we need without creating fear or panic. Lord God, You are in control of all things and we place our lives into Your merciful hands. We ask for all of these things in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

⏳ #TBT Memoir of A Typist

I didn't realize it at the time, but it was probably pre-ordained that I would be a typist when I grew up. I got my first typewriter for Christmas in 1964 when I was 6 years old and in the 1st grade. It was a Berwin Gold tin toy typewriter, and I actually found a pic of how it looked from the front on Ebay. I haven't thought about that toy typewriter in years, but it looks exactly the way I remember it. After that, I had a Sears manual typewriter while I was in middle school and a Brother electric typewriter while I was in high school. When I became an adult in the '80s, I made the transitions from IBM Selectric typewriters, to word processors, and finally to computers. So, I've been typing most of my life and I'm not too sure why, but it always relaxes me for some reason!

Amazing Grace!

I was at T.J.Maxx yesterday and heard a loud crash and something shattering. Being nosy, I walked towards the sound and saw some people whispering and looking back to the end of the next aisle. When I walked down that aisle, I saw that an older lady had hit a shelf and many things had fallen to the floor and broken. She was kneeling on the floor embarrassed, frantically trying to clean up. I felt so bad for her and everyone was just standing there staring at her. So, I went and knelt beside her and told her not to worry and started helping her pick up the broken pieces. After about a minute, the store manager came and knelt beside us and said, "Leave it, we will clean this up." The lady, totally embarrassed said, “I need to pay for all of this.” The manager smiled, helped her to her feet, and said, "No ma’am, we have insurance for this, you do not have to pay anything!" If you have read this far, give me another minute.

Wherever you are, close your eyes, and imagine God doing the same for you! Imagine the broken pieces of your mistakes or the pieces of your broken heart from all the blows life has thrown at you all over the floor, and you’re there trying to collect all of the pieces and fix them yourself. Now, imagine God comes and kneels right down beside you, smiles and says to you, "Leave it all there, I will clean this up for you." He loves you that much and wants to put all of those pieces back together, if you will let Him. With Him, we have this insurance called GRACE and it’s free! All you have to do is ask Him to forgive you, help you, and heal you. He is faithful, I promise! Please copy, paste, and share this like I did. Someone somewhere needs to know it!

🕊 Personalized Memorial Blanket For Me

Well, my blanket arrived today. I submitted my favorite photo of mom and this beautiful woven blanket was created. It has two names with a slash because her grandmother (and great grandmother) name was "Pumpkin Pie" and eventually, this blanket will be passed on to my daughter.

If there is a loved one that you would like to memorialize in this way, click on the image or the text link underneath to visit the website and order it. I can't hug mom and she can't hug me anymore, but I can wrap myself in this blanket and revisit the memories of our warm embrace.

📬 Air Mail Blanket For My Daughter

I started seeing ads for this blanket while I was on Facebook during my days of caregiving for mom. From the minute I first saw it, I made a commitment to myself to get one for my daughter as a small token of appreciation for all of the help and support she gave me with mom. I also felt that I would have loved to have a keepsake gift like this myself.

Well, now that mom is gone, I finally followed up on that commitment and ordered the blanket a few weeks ago. It finally came and my daughter loved it. My experience with mom drove home those old cliches that "life is short" and "tomorrow is not promised", so we should let people know how much we love and appreciate them while we still can.

If you have a beautiful daughter(s) in your life that you would like to gift this blanket to, click on the image or text link underneath to visit the website and order it. I'm sure she will love it just as much as my daughter did. And, stay tuned... I did order a blanket for myself that is forthcoming. But, mine is a memorial blanket in remembrance of mom.

🙏🏾 Prayer Changes Things

Dear Heavenly Father,

In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I pray for our President-Elect Joe Biden, Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris, and their future administration. I pray for the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the Supreme Court to receive the wisdom of God, to act in obedience to that wisdom, and for the power of God to flow in their lives. I also pray for the members of the Senate and the House of Representatives to find Your peace and direction, and for these men and women to act and lead according to Your Word. A house divided against itself cannot stand, therefore, I pray for them to be unified in the cause of righteousness for the sake of our nation.

Amen.

School Memories

I'm okay with all the precautions we must take to stay safe, but I'm feeling some "COVID-19 Fatigue" right now. I just realized this is the time of year the grands usually get their school portraits taken, so it looks like I won't have any photos for 2020 to add to my collection. Coronavirus is on the rise and God only knows when they will be going back to school. What a bummer!

How Joe Biden Won The White House

The only thing more powerful than a dragon is a dragon slayer. For four years, Donald Trump’s penchant for division and chaos was the dominant force in American life. In the end, after a long and excruciating battle, it was vanquished by Joe Biden’s promise of decency, unity, and national healing. What Is A Veteran?

A veteran is someone who served in the active military, naval, or air service and wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America for an amount up to and including their life. It is truly an honor and there are many Americans who don't understand that level of sacrifice.

Happy Veterans Day to everyone who served in all branches of the armed forces, and especially the one who is nearest and dearest to my heart. My hubby served in the United States Air Force for 22 years and retired in 2006. Thank you for your sacrifice and service!

JOE BIDEN IS PRESIDENT-ELECT!

OMG, what a ride! It was starting to feel like this road trip would never end, but we finally made it through. THANK GOD, who is always in control, for the outcome. The people have spoken and much respect is due to everyone all over the country who had the long and tedious task of counting the mail-in ballots.

Thank you for your commitment and consistent hard work while you had to endure unwarranted accusations from #45 and numerous interruptions from his misinformed supporters who chose to believe his rhetoric without question.

This is America, where we are supposed to be presumed innocent until "proven" guilty. But unfortunately, this country has a long way to go when it comes to actually living up to that ideal regarding people of color, who are constantly judged based on race.

Please know that your efforts were appreciated and most of the country is grateful that you chose to uphold the integrity of our democracy through it all... and I, for one, chose to believe that you would until "proven" otherwise!

There is Strength in Numbers

Everyone who participated in this particular election should be proud of the part you played in our democracy. If you add together the total number of popular votes that each candidate received so far (click on image for a larger view), you are looking at the largest number of voter participation in the history of our country, and more votes are still being counted. Let that sink in for a few minutes, but these numbers should tell you even more about the state of our union. What are they saying to you?
